RC модел U.S.C.G.C Acushnet - 10

To make it easier, I divide the fabric into pieces of 30-40 cm along the length of the model. It can also be put on a whole piece, but then you definitely need an assistant to lay the fabric. Now I will explain in more detail for those who have not done it. Never put in all the resin you think you'll need!

The technology is as follows:

I mix 50-60 g of epoxy resin in one mixer, towards the end and less. I grease the model liberally. One part is absorbed by the wood, the other remains.

I carefully place the already cut fabric on the model. It sticks lightly to the model and cannot slip. Therefore, care must be taken when laying the fabric. I dab the fabric with the resin brush so that it sticks to the model, without air pockets, and the fabric is soaked with resin evenly everywhere. In the more curved places, a repetition is necessary.

After 24 hours (the next day) the resin has already hardened and has a slightly greasy surface. Nothing but epoxy will stick to this surface. It should be lightly sanded, but sanding now will remove the fabric. Therefore, the final coating with epoxy resin follows. A smooth, even layer should be obtained, so that after sanding it does not rub the fabric.

I leave it to dry for another 4-5 days to ensure a hard and durable coating. Guaranteed not to be swept away or cracked by water and sun.
